Is it finally Arsenal's time to win the Premier League again?

After an emphatic 4-0 win against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League this week, the momentum is truly with Arsenal as they seek to win their first Premier League title in over 20 years. For the past few seasons, Arteta's team have challenged at the top but have always fallen short. But with the summer recruitment they've completed this season, and the current form of the defence, the Gunners are looking imperious.

Tuesday night's victory against Atletico marked the 4th consecutive clean sheet for Arsenal, and meant that they've also only faced 1 shot on target in the past 3 games. It's been clear for a long time that Arsenal's defence is their greatest strength, and this has been shown at the start of this season. This has been backed up by the stats too, with the most significant one being that this start to the season has been the best in their history after 12 games. When you think of the calibre of defenders Arsenal have had in their history, it is a great accomplishment for the current set of defenders to hold such a record. Aside from the stats, the eye test also confirms how hard it is not just to score, but also to create chances against this Arsenal side. The balance they have defensively at the moment just seems perfect and teams need to be more innovative offensively or rely on moments of brilliance to breach the defence.

Arsenal are also starting to click offensively, and the scary thing is they have much room to improve in that department. Their set-piece dominance still exists and is a major source of goals, with the Gunners having scored 10 set-piece goals already this season. The quality of delivery from Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka is so impressive, and it feels like each time this team gets a corner or free-kick a big chance will be created or a goal will be scored. There's also the factor of Viktor Gyökeres' form improving and the positive effect that can have for the team. So far, Gyökeres has scored 3 times in the Premier League, with those goals coming in 2 games against Leeds United and Nottingham Forest. The Swede has looked clunky in most of his games so far, but scoring against Atletico could provide that confidence boost he needs to go on a goalscoring run over the next few weeks. Arsenal play Crystal Palace, Brighton, Burnley, and Sunderland in the Premier League before the next international break. These are all very winnable games for Arsenal and Gyökeres should be licking his lips at the prospect of playing these games in the form his team is in.

With the dip in form Liverpool are currently experiencing, and the over-reliance on Haaland for goals Man City currently have, this seems to be the best chance for Arsenal to build a bit of a gap from the other challengers. We have said that before about Arsenal, however this time there is a completeness to the team which we haven't seen before. This definitely should be the best chance Arsenal have to win the Premier League but let's see what challenges the league throws up over the season!
