Mo Salah's Liverpool stay is over.
Mo Salah's post-match outburst last Saturday has undoubtedly been the story that has dominated football news cycles in the past week. Salah has been dropped from the starting XI in the past 3 games, and was particularly frustrated at not having made it onto the pitch in Liverpool's 3-3 draw away at Leeds United. The Egyptian's interview would have come as a shock to Liverpool fans, especially with how direct his comments were. There surely is no way back for Salah at Liverpool now, and it's entirely possible that he might have played his last game for the club.

After such stellar performances last season, Salah was rewarded with a new contract which made him Liverpool's highest ever paid player. This season however, Salah's performances have been below par and the forward has only scored 4 goals in the Premier League. Even before he was dropped for the away trip to West Ham United, some sections of the Liverpool fanbase were calling for some change as the team's overall performance has been nowhere near good enough this season. Maybe the fact that Salah has been the only major Liverpool player to be dropped for a "prolonged" period of time could be the reason why felt the need to drop this particular bombshell. Perhaps the most shocking revelations for Liverpool fans include feeling like the club has "thrown him under the bus" and that Salah no longer has a relationship with Arne Slot. These quotes especially drew a parallel to Cristiano Ronaldo's interview with Piers Morgan before leaving Manchester United in 2022.
Hard to see how Mo Salah can stay at Liverpool. January break best for all concerned. One of Liverpool's greatest ever players is frustrated at the realisation that he is not a starter under Arne Slot. His form doesn’t warrant a place. His work out of possession doesn’t warrant a…

The majority of the Liverpool fanbase are disappointed in what Mo Salah said and the timing of it. With the manager under increasing pressure due to results and performances, Salah's interview did feel somewhat premeditated. It felt like a means to put more pressure on the manager's job and get him gone, or failing that make the situation so far gone that the club would have no choice but to sell him in January. If the intention was to pile more pressure onto Arne Slot, Salah's interview seems to have had the opposite effect, at least in the short-term. Liverpool's hierarchy have reportedly come out to give the Dutchman their full backing and since then, Salah was dropped from the matchday squad against Inter Milan and there is no certainty that he'll be involved against Brighton this weekend. Pundits across football have also condemned Salah's actions, especially Jamie Carragher who called the Egyptian a "disgrace". Carragher went on an 8 minute rant on Monday Night Football and was pretty scathing towards Mo Salah. There is a risk that Salah could be tarnishing his Liverpool legacy slightly, but with the volume of work and success he has brought the football club, this shouldn't be a possibility. If Salah does leave the club in January, fans will be hoping that he get the sendoff a player of his calibre deserves.
