Premier League 2024/25 Season Predictions
This summer has been jam-packed with sport, ranging from international football tournaments to the Olympic Games. And now, the Premier League makes its return on Friday! Fans can look forward to another season of ups and downs. Who will emerge as the heroes and villains this season? Who will win the title? Who will get relegated? This is what I think...

Title Winners
Arsenal, it's time! The Gunners arguably played the best football last season and were unfortunate not to win the league last season. Like Liverpool in previous seasons, they have had to contend with the intimidating presence of Pep Guardiola's Manchester City but I think this season the gap between the two sides is closer than before. For one, City do look a bit light up front. If they don't get a replacement in for Haaland, who will get the goals if he gets a bad injury? There's also the matter of the court case against the Premier League which is set to begin next month and a verdict is to be given early next year.
Arsenal star players are likely to keep performing and improve. They are young and have scope to grow. The likes of Saka, Saliba and Ødegaard were excellent last season and provided moments of brilliance and I'm backing to do the same this season. There has been talk of Gabriel Jesus looking rejuvenated, so could he score 15+ goals? The addition of Riccardo Calafiori could also be a needle-mover for Arsenal adding to their defensive solidity, as well as helping the team in possession. For these reasons, I believe Arsenal will be winning their first Premier League title in over 20 years.
European Places
There will be a right old scrap for the European places between 3rd and 7th. There are probable 7 teams who will be fighting for these positions this season and it may come down to the wire to decide who will be playing in which European competition next season. In the last two Champions League places, I have Liverpool and Manchester United. Surely Manchester United can't have a season equivalent to last and I think they have made some smart signings this summer. Erik ten Hag will also be hoping for an upturn in the form of Marcus Rashford and Casemiro whilst also hoping young stars, Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo and Rasmus Højlund produce big moments as they did last season. Liverpool still haven't signed anyone this season and their team is calling out for a defensive midfielder. Arne Slot will want to hit the ground running and he certainly has the quality in his squad to do so. It's just a case of adapting to the unforgiving nature of the Premier League but I'm confident that Liverpool will have enough to make the Top 4.

In the Europa League places, I have Chelsea and Aston Villa. I'm just not sure on Chelsea. They have good quality in their squad but is their manager good enough. There are Leicester City fans who weren't too bothered that Enzo Maresca left for Chelsea and there was a point last season where it looked like Leicester would falter at the final stages. Also, having seen some highlights from Chelsea's pre-season it looks like they'll be playing a man-to-man system, which can easily be found (see Manchester United last season). The addition of Pedro Neto could be great for the team but that depends on his availability which is ambiguous given his unfortunate injury record. For Aston Villa, I think that their participation in the Champions League could harm them like it did for Newcastle United last season. They have signed some good players like Ian Maatsen and Amadou Onana (not André) but will that be enough to replace the quality of Douglas Luiz. They have also lost Mousa Diaby, who was a threat to opposition defences, and may look to the likes of Jaden Philogene and Samuel Iling-Junior to replace that threat.
In the Europa Conference League place, I have Tottenham Hotspur. They have spent big money of Dominic Solanke and Archie Gray but is that enough to alleviate the issues we saw towards the end of last season. They have also retained Timo Werner and will need more contributions from their other wingers to help Solanke and Son. I also think that Big Ange may get found out by a lot of teams this season. The high line may not be as effective as teams are wise to it now and they need to defend set pieces a whole lot better. Even in their recent friendly with Bayern Munich, they conceded cheap goals from set pieces. I think that West Ham and Newcastle will run Spurs close for 7th place but might just be missing that little bit of quality.
It has to be said, West Ham have had an extremely impressive summer in the transfer market. pic.twitter.com/iEXSLMnv72

Relegation Battle
As with last season, I don't think that it's inconceivable that all 3 promoted sides are involved in this season's relegation battle. Leicester City are likely to receive a points deduction this season, immediately putting them on the back foot. They hired Steve Cooper, a manager with experience of staying up, but summer transfer incomings leaves a lot to be desired, if they have aims of staying up comfortably. Southampton have been busier in the transfer market, bringing in the likes of Adam Lallana, Ben Brereton Diaz and Taylor Harwood-Bellis. Russell Martin's style of play is conducive to conceding a lot of goals, so they will be needing to tweak their system to make them more defensively solid. I also think that they may struggle to score enough goals. Ipswich Town have defied all odds by being in the Premier League and I have a feeling that they may have the best chance of the promoted teams to stay up. I say this because I have bought into the hype of Kieran McKenna. I kept track on Ipswich's results last season and they always seemed to pull a last-minute equaliser or winner out from the bag. They are a resilient team who also play good football. In terms of transfers, they have been as busy as Southampton and made Omari Hutchinson a permanent fixture at Portman Road, whilst also bringing in the Premier League experience of Ben Johnson from West Ham on a free.

The 2 other teams I believe will be involved in the relegation battle this season, are Brentford and Nottingham Forest. Brentford have steadily been showing signs of their performance levels waning since last season. Whilst Thomas Frank is an impressive character and is tactically adept, I don't think that their squad will produce the performances required to be comfortably in mid-table or above. Nottingham Forest have had a very quiet transfer window, probably to do with PSR concerns. Their most notable signing is Elliot Anderson from Newcastle United but I don't think he'll be much of a difference maker. The volatile nature of the club may also be a factor and could cause instability. I wouldn't bet against Nuno being sacked this season and this could cause their downfall. I have Forest going down with Southampton and Leicester City.
This could be a very exciting season! There's a lot of competition for the European places, the title race will be very interesting and clubs have so far made some intriguing signings (except Liverpool). I'm looking forward to it and I'm sure you are too!
