Why is Liam Delap attracting so much interest?

News came out this week that Liam Delap has a £30 million release clause this summer in the eventuality that Ipswich Town get relegated in the next few weeks. Several Premier League clubs have already been touted as having major interest in the striker for this summer, including the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United. With an apparent lack of striker options on the market this summer, Delap could prove to be a worthwhile gamble for a big team.

Liam Delap has proven that he is already a competent Premier League striker this season by scoring 12 goals in 30 games. With a £30 million release clause, it is easy to see why so many big clubs are circling to buy him. His profile as a striker would be a great fit for many of the clubs needing a striker to push them to the next level. Delap possesses the physicality and speed to succeed in the Premier League and also has an attitude about him which portrays a lot of confidence which will definitely help him cope with the pressure that comes with playing for big clubs.

A move to either Chelsea or Manchester United would certainly appeal to Delap. Chelsea's interest comes about because of Delap's connection with Enzo Maresca during their time together in Manchester City's academy. Additionally, Chelsea are in need of cover for Nicolas Jackson as Christopher Nkunku has been less than effective. In terms of Manchester United's interest, the Red Devils are in dire need of upgrading their attacking options. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have struggled in front of goal in the Premier League and Delap has proven that he can at the very least be an effective front man for the rest of the team to play off of. Additionally, their have been reports that Hojlund could go back to Serie A this summer which would leave the striker space open for someone like Delap to fill in.

It will be very interesting to see where Liam Delap ends up this summer. The young striker has a lot of potential to become a really good Premier League striker and whoever lands him will look to exploit this potential to the fullest extent. Either way, it is almost certain that Delap will end up playing for one of England's biggest clubs and could become their poster boy for years to come!
