Will Ebere Eze boost Arsenal's title chances?

Despite winning at Old Trafford in their first game of the season, Arsenal's performance produced more questions than answers when it comes to their potential title credentials. The Gunners looked lethargic and uninspiring against Manchester United, and most players performed well under par. But now with the club on the verge of signing Ebere Eze from Crystal Palace, could he provide a much needed spark for the team and the fans?

All the excitement for Arsenal fans before their first match of the new Premier League season focused on Viktor Gyokeres' debut. The Swedish striker has come in with a great goalscoring reputation but scoring goals in the Premier League is a very different proposition to scoring goals in Portugal. From Sunday's viewing, it is plausible to say that Gyokeres will need time to get up to scratch in order to make an impact for Arsenal. Whilst Gyokeres' performance was uninspiring, the rest of Arsenal's attack were also lacklustre. Fans are quickly losing faith in Gabriel Martinelli, who offered little threat on the left wing, and both Saka and Odegaard couldn't create chances for their new No.9. Yes, it was the first game of the season but still, Arsenal fans would have expected more of an attacking impetus from their team. Maybe Eze could be the extra bit of creativity the Gunners need to help push them for the title.

Arsenal's imminent signing of Ebere Eze has been made sweeter by the fact that they've beaten Tottenham Hotspur to it. From the start of the week, all signs pointed to Eze moving to Spurs, but a Kai Havertz injury forced Arsenal to act decisively a poach the England international from their bitter rivals for a fee of around £65 million. For Eze, he will see this as a reward for all the hardship he's endured in the early stages of his career. He was released from Arsenal's academy at the age of 13 and had a few multiple failed trials at different clubs before successful stints at QPR and Crystal Palace. The question is where will Eze fit in Arteta's team? The obvious answer is as a replacement for Gabriel Martinelli but Eze does not play in the same way. If he is playing off the left, Arteta will need to tweak his tactics as there would be far too much happening in the inside left channel, where Eze operates best. Whoever plays left-back will need to increase the amount of overlapping runs they make and stay wider than they usually do in Arteta's style of play.

Arsenal fans are overjoyed at this signing. They are signing one of the best left-sided players in the league and will be hoping that he makes a major impact towards the club winning the Premier League after more than 20 years.
